According to an article in the Daily News, a Long Island police officer suffered a gunshot wound to the hip following a response to a burglary in New Hyde Park.
Investigators believe that the burglary was a targeted one, although the investigation was still underway at the time of the article’s publication. Two people were at home when the break in occurred, and thanks to the swift response from police officers, they were not harmed. Unfortunately, the first officer on the scene did not avert a painful gunshot wound. Even so, he is recovering.
The house that was burglarized in this case was located in a quiet neighborhood in Long Island. Neighbors commented that something like this had never happened before, and many of them were shocked.
