REPRINT FROM NEWSDAY FEBRUARY 28, 2016
WILLISTON PARK – Nassau County police say they have arrested the man behind a string of burglaries targeting more than a dozen homes in the county.
According to detectives, Mamuka Bokuchava, of Brooklyn, stole from residences beginning in November of 2014. They say he entered numerous homes and stole cash and property amounting to more than $300,000.
Investigators say Bokuchava would target the homes any time between 10:30 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Bokuchava was arrested last Saturday after a woman returning to her Williston Park home said she spotted him exiting through a window carrying a bag of her property.
Nassau County Police say Bokuchava was linked to additional burglaries following an “extensive investigation” by the Major Case Bureau Burglary Pattern team, Third Squad detectives and the Port Washington Police Department. According to investigators, the proceeds of previous burglaries were found at Bokuchava’s house, and he is being charged with 17 counts of burglary.
