Do you know how long you’ve had your alarm system in your house? Is it possible your alarm system is outdated? That might not be the question (intended as the answer) that you want to hear during the time of year when burglaries usually increase. What signs do you have on your alarm system that you’ve perhaps let time slip by and allowed technology to get better without you taking advantage of it? When you’re using an outdated alarm system, you’re already playing risk as much as you do with virus software not being up to date.
Your Alarm System isn’t Wireless
Hard-wired alarm systems are now as old as analog TV’s and could essentially be rendered useless. The reason is because burglars are much more astute to alarm systems than they were several decades ago. If they see you have nothing but a wired system, they can easily cut the wires and make your security system completely silent.
Even alarm systems that are more than a few years old are wireless, so don’t be using alarm systems that go back more than five years.
Cameras Without Strong Resolution
We all know that a good security camera is going to make a huge difference in being able to scope out a burglar if you need the image for evidence. A camera that goes back more than a decade isn’t going to be anywhere near the resolution of today and will prove more difficult in giving detailed images. Older cameras are also more cumbersome compared to their modern-day counterparts that are half the size.
Having Remote Access
You want to be able to have remote access to your alarm system when you can. This also includes remote monitoring through the alarm company, or yourself through a smartphone. Here at All Island Security, we have a monitoring station in Long Island that will keep tabs on your house 24/7 and automatically sends police to you home when we detect an intrusion. We’ll also contact you as part of the remote access without you having to do any work.
While some older alarm systems had monitoring capability, most of them didn’t have the consistent monitoring from a watchful eye as you can have now.
The good news when upgrading your alarm system is you don’t have to spend a fortune. When you go through All Island Security for your new security system, you’re going to have affordable installation and options. This even includes allowing you to use your existing alarm system system that might be older. We’ll upgrade it by giving it the ability to connect directly to our monitoring station for a reasonable monthly fee.
Contact us so we can get you upgraded to a more state-of-the-art alarm system, or at least a remote connection so you’re not stuck with embarrassingly outdated technology. Yes, technology may change fast. But not upgrading your alarm system is a risk placing you behind the intelligence level of professional thieves who know everything about alarm systems.
