When you are thinking of ways to keep your family safe, you have probably already thought of the big issues. You have likely considered locks, alarm systems and cameras and either have a safety and security plan in place for your home and family, or at the very least you are still working out the details.
However, you may not have thought of some of the simpler things you can do that will keep your family safe. For instance, have you asked yourself if your home address is clearly visible? If it is tough to see the address of your home from the street this can cost first responders valuable minutes if they are responding to a medical emergency at your home, or if police are responding to a call that someone at your address is in distress.
When your home address is easily visible from the street during daylight hours and at night, you are giving your family the very best chance at receiving help in time, if the worst should happen. A few simple things you can do to increase the visibility of your home address include lighting the address numbers on your home, or having your home address painted on the curb in front of your home with reflective paint. These are cheap fixes to a problem that could make all the difference in an emergency, and it is something you can take care of on your own.
